Tuesday's Quest
"Computers are useless. They can only give you answers."
-- Pablo Picasso
It is up to you to come up with good questions. Today,
try to gather some of your "favorite" sites and a pictures on the internet.
We will then send these locations to others (or yourself!) through your
e-mail account. You will also learn how to save the images you see
on someone else's web page, and store it on the computer so you can use
them later when you make your own web page later this week.
-
1. Can you find cool pictures? Think of places that like to
show off pictures--Kodak perhaps? Museums? Here are some of my favorites:
-
3. Can you find any interesting web page that has hard to find information
like:
How to e-mail a web address
It is very convenioent to "Bookmark" an interenting web iste, but this
is only stored on the computer you are working on. What if you want
to look at it at home or at the public library, or share it with a friend?
It is very handy to e-mail the address to a friend (or even yourself, if
you work at a different computer).
-
Once you are at a web page, you can click the location (so it is selected
and turns blue) and then go to the "Edit" menu and select "Copy"
(pressing Control-C will do the same thing even quicker).
It is now stored in a hidden place (called a clipboard).
-
Now start a new browser window ("File" menu, then "New Navigator
Window").
-
In the new window login to your Hotmail account
-
Start writing a new e-mail message to the person to whom you are going
to send the address.
-
Once you are typing in the body of your message, you can "paste" the address
by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Paste" (pressing
Control-V is even quicker!)
If you want to add a great address to this page, let me know by sending
me e-mail at cct@ktb.net
How to Save an Image for Later
I you see a picture you like, you can save it into you own folder and later
make it part of your own web page.
-
Right-click on the image to get a gray "pop-up" menu
-
Now you will be asked where. Be sure to go to your own flolder, and
not clutter up and other folder with you images. ( Besides, you probably
won't know where to find it later if you don't store it in your own folder!)
It is a good idea to keep the name of the file the same.
