Pythagorean Theorem Proof Presentation Project
Sometime This week or next, you need to learn and present a proof (of your choice) to the class that proves
the sum of the squares of the legs of a right triangle equal the square of the hypotenuse (The Pythagorean Theorem).
(Worth 4 HW and 4 CW points) The Three Best will get either a new Mitsubishi Kuru Toga 0.5 Mechanical Pencil
or a new Pentel GraphGear 1000 .5mm Mechanical Pencil
Possible Methods
- At the board with pen
- At the board with magnetic shapes
- Poster
- Slides (Powerpoint, Keynote, presentation) (best to upload it, or a publicly available link to it in Blackbaud)
- Video (If you wish to work as a pair, you need to first get my approval. Be ready to explain who is responsible for what---I expect about 1-2 hrs work per person)
- Something so creative, I didn't think to mention it here
- Example powerpoint presentation from Marshall Knauf
Requirements
- Site your sources.
- Understand the proof (make sure it is a proof for any length, not merely an example that 32 + 42 = 52)
- Be able to clarify and answer questions about the proof
- Be creative.. try to do something that looks new and different (Be inspired by someone else's work, and build upon it. Don't just show us someone else's work, or plagiarize)
